Photographing the Harriet Beecher Stowe Sculpture Project
The project began with Councill’s Third Thursday Lecture on November 9, 2023, and continued through 48 days of active coverage from December 12, 2023, to February 2, 2024, concluding with the public unveiling at the Walter Jones Historical Park in Mandarin on November 17, 2024.
Together, we captured more than 72,000 photographs, approximately 81% contributing to the time-lapse video shown below and the remainder devoted to still documentation of the process and related events. Additional time was devoted to post-production and editing to complete the final presentation.
This collaboration—supporting the Mandarin Museum & Historical Society and the Mandarin Community Center—embodied how photography can serve both as craft and contribution, blending artistry, documentation, and community engagement in celebrating the creative spirit of Mandarin.
